Younghoe's day of care.

The people that cared about Younghoe growing up worked hard for him. It meant a lot to him—and you can tell by the way he returns that care to the kids, adults, and small businesses of Atlanta.

I'm Younghoe Koo, Kicker for the Atlanta Falcons. I'm really excited to be here today. I partnered with Truist and they helped me design a whole day of giving back to Atlanta community. Let's get this day started. Do you guys want to help me open the boxes now.

00:23:00 - 00:43:23

To give our kids access to a local superstar, like Koo. I mean, it means more than words could say and to just give them this opportunity to see the smiles on their faces, to see the laughter as they run back and forth of being, you know, just energetic over the equipment it brings to the highlight of our day.

00:45:11 - 00:59:04

So we're on our way to surprise Kimaya. She's been crushing it on the flag football field and off the field in school. Kimya? Yes. Hi. Younghoe Kool. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. Everybody's here for you today.

01:03:02 - 01:29:17

Unknown

We're going to give you a scholarship and as well as some money to continue your positive impact in the community. Thank You. We have the privilege of getting a chance to meet people like Kimaya a lot. She's the one that people should be taking care of and doing good things for. And yet she's the one that's going out and doing all the nice things for other people. Today was really cool because she got a chance to have people love on her.

01:29:17 - 01:42:17

Unknown

It was really special for me to be in that moment with them. They've been through a lot and just learning their story and hearing how she's making that huge positive impact in the community. It was really, truly inspiring for me to be there, and it was an honor to be there.

01:43:01 - 02:06:07

We're here at Operation Hope in Atlanta to surprise Coach Yajaira today. She's been doing such great work around the Atlanta community and we want to surprise her with some goodies. Coach Yajaira? How you doing? Nice to meet you. I'm Younghoe Koo, Kicker for the Atlanta Falcons. You're doing such amazing things around the community. So we just wanted to recognize that and just celebration.

02:06:08 - 02:24:21

Unknown

Oh, thank you so much. Oh, this is awesome. Tell us a little bit about what you do around the community. Well, I'm a financial well-being coach. I teach credit, money, management, anything that has to do with getting people to feel more comfortable with their finances. I'm just there emotionally and financially to support them as much as I can.

02:24:21 - 02:29:04

Unknown

Thank you so much I had no idea.

02:31:23 - 02:49:12

We're here at Chai Yo, a smaller business in Atlanta. It's my favorite restaurant, Truist and I ordered a huge order to bring it to my Sister's House, a part of Atlanta mission. And we're here to finish it up. Chef nice to meet you. Thanks for having. Nice to meet you, too. So this is my favorite restaurant around here. Oh, really?

02:49:13 - 03:08:07

Unknown

And I came here, I don't know, at least 20 times also. So funny story. So one Thanksgiving, I ordered the, like it was like a package. So I came over here and picked up, like, ten different meals, and I ate that for the whole week. You know, I love it so much. What are we preparing today? I'll demonstrate it for you?

03:08:07 - 03:33:21

Unknown

And then maybe you give it a shot? Okay, well, we'll start off with the hot wok and you want to break up all the rice. Yeah. You know, like I'm on Food Network right now. Yeah, right. You want to give it a shot now? Oh, I'll do if I got the rest. Here you go. All right, we got the catering order, and we're going to head to my sister's house.

03:34:18 - 03:58:09

Unknown

I know, I know. You're good. Are you right here? Third. I mean, our vision here at Atlanta Mission is to be a community united to end homelessness. And so to see somebody in our community partnering with us to do that, it's unbelievable. And this is the first load of coats we asked Atlanta mission what they need. So we're going to take care of some personal needs and coats.

03:59:09 - 04:11:21

Unknown

I just want to say thank you to Truist and everybody for following along for the full day of care. And we're just going to get ready to serve dinner. So appreciate it.

Atlanta YMCA

Younghoe kicked his day off by bringing new sports equipment, fun, and inspiration to the kids at the Atlanta YMCA.

I'm Younghoe Koo, Kicker for the Atlanta Falcons. I'm really excited to be here today, partner with Truist. And they helped me design a whole day of giving back to Atlanta community. Let's get this day started. We're very grateful and to have such an impact through the generous donation that has been given through the Atlanta Falcons. Good sports and through us.

00:00:28:05 - 00:00:54:08

Do you guys want to help me open those boxes now? Oh, how often do you get to have the opportunity to see one of your superstars here right in your own yard? You know, like I said, it's about giving them the kids here at this YMCA and this community access to, you know, things that they are not used to on a regular basis.

00:00:54:10 - 00:01:19:05

So we're going to challenge these kids to a game of kickball and let's see what they got. You guys want to play kickball? Well, it's it's extremely rewarding for us to be here today to see the delight in the children's eyes as they open the toys. And in a sports equipment. And it's exciting for us to partner with Younghoe and the Falcons.

00:01:19:11 - 00:01:35:10

We also partnered with the YMCA and all three organizations share a purpose that's around building and inspiring the better lives and communities.

Positive Athlete

Kimaya Jackson is someone who’s used to taking care of other people—but Younghoe made sure she got her time to shine. He rewarded this volunteer, student, and Positive Athlete for being an all-around great human.

Younghoe Koo. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. Well, I'm here partnering with Truist and Positive Athlete, and everybody is here for you today.

00:00:27:17 - 00:00:42:09

Speaker 1

You've been crushing it on the flag. Football field, right? Yes. And I heard y'all went to a championship was all right. Yes. Yeah. So that and you know it crushing in school and just making a positive impact on the community. So we're here to celebrate you today.

00:00:44:08 - 00:01:04:03

Speaker 2

You know, a day like this doesn't happen unless you have people that are committed to the community and Truist is very committed to the community and giving back. We had the privilege of getting a chance to meet people like Kimaya a lot. She's the one that people should be taking care of and doing good things for. And yet she's the one that's going out and doing all the nice things for other people.

00:01:04:09 - 00:01:12:05

Speaker 2

And that's what we always kind of look for, is that kids who have those kinds of stories, their first inclination is, I want to go help somebody else.

00:01:12:20 - 00:01:30:10

Speaker 3

I did a Toys for Tots drive, and it was for families that just came out of being homeless and it was like during the Christmas time just watching the looks on their faces. It made me feel great. It made me feel like I was doing something that I needed to do.

00:01:30:15 - 00:01:34:14

Speaker 2

Today was really cool because she got a chance to have people love on her.

00:01:34:16 - 00:01:40:19

Speaker 1

We're going to give you a scholarship and as well as some money to continue your positive impact in the community.

Chai Yo Modern Thai

Younghoe lived in South Korea until he was 12, so Chai Yo Modern Thai in Atlanta is his go-to for comfort food, and he’s passionate about supporting this local small business. So he helped two of his favorite places at once by ordering—and helping make—a large meal to donate to the residents at My Sister’s House.

What are we prepared to do? I'll devastated for you. And then maybe you give it a shot. Okay, so we'll start out with the hot wok, put the oil.

00:00:51:06 - 00:01:18:01

Speaker 1

Right. And you want to break up all the rice? Yeah, yeah. Before you get the onions and the eggs to get to know each other. All right. Like I'm on Food Network right now. Yeah, right. So I'm very stuck. That's it? Yeah, that's our craft for us. That's it. Whew. I'll see that. Yeah. So this is it right here?

00:01:18:01 - 00:01:51:22

Speaker 1

Yeah. That's going to give it. It's out now. Oh, I know. If I got that respect. Yeah, there you go. Oh, yeah, right. And it had a little bit of that stir fry sauce at the end, seeing a beauty. But the beautiful effort. That's our Crab Fried Rice Love it. Oh, yeah.

My Sister’s House - Atlanta Mission

The women and children at My Sister’s House—part of Atlanta Mission—got a special delivery from Younghoe Koo. He brought them his favorite comfort food, warm winter jackets, and a whole lot of care.

00:00:05:23 - 00:00:27:09

So we're going to my sister's house in Atlanta as part of Atlanta mission. It shelters homeless women and other people that are in need. So we're bringing some food and winter coats and things that they need. So we're going to head over there and see how we can do a plan to help.

00:00:27:15 - 00:00:49:19

Speaker 2

I mean, our vision here at Atlanta Mission is to be a community united to end homelessness. And so to see somebody in our community partnering with us to do that. It's unbelievable. We're a nonprofit, so we really do survive on the people in our community buying into what we're doing, seeing the problem and understanding how they can help, and then coming back time after time and bringing their friends with them.

00:00:49:19 - 00:01:07:16

Speaker 2

Obviously, the easiest way to get involved is to head to our website, Atlanta Mission Board. But really, there are so many ways for people to get involved and partner with us. We exist solely off of private funding. So any financial help we always need volunteers. We're looking for, whether it be groups of friends, individuals to come serve with us.

00:01:07:21 - 00:01:12:21

Speaker 2

We also accept donations. So not just financial but also actual physical materials that you can donate.

00:01:12:22 - 00:01:27:01

Speaker 1

And this is the first load of coats. We asked the Atlanta mission what they need, but we're going to take care of some personal needs and coats.

Check out other days of care.
