Truist One Checking1 Account

One simple choice.

With Truist One Checking you never have to wonder if you’re getting the most from your checking account. As your needs—and total relationship balances—change, we automatically move you to the benefit level that gives you the best bang for your bucks.

It’s your money. And it should stay that way.

That’s why Truist One Checking doesn’t charge overdraft-related4 fees, gives you five ways to waive your monthly maintenance fee, covers some non-Truist ATM transactions5, and even helps with the cost of personal checks.

It’s so simple to start with Truist One Checking.

Want to know the perks? We keep it on the level.

You can move between five different benefit levels, each with its own set of perks. Your level is determined by your total monthly average balance—which includes your Truist personal checking, savings, and investment accounts, and a few others.6

You don’t have to take any action to move between levels—just keep banking. But here’s how we set up Truist One Checking to fit you:

  • Most Truist One Checking accounts start at Level 1, but can start increasing levels the very next month.
  • Every month, we’ll review your total monthly average balance in your Truist One Portfolio—which includes your checking accounts, savings, investment, and other accounts.6
  • If the monthly average balance increased over the month to reach a new benefit level, we’ll move you up.
  • If your monthly average balance drops into a lower level for three months in a row, we’ll move you down.

As our relationship grows—so do your benefits.

No, but we’ve made it easy to waive the $12 monthly maintenance fee.

Plus, Truist One Checking doesn’t charge overdraft fees or overdraft related fees, like returned item, negative account balance, or overdraft protection transfer fees. And some ATM and personal check fees are waived.

See Truist One Checking Account Overview Guide and Personal Deposit Accounts Fee Schedule for further fee information.

Waive the $12 Monthly Maintenance Fee for each statement cycle by making $500 in total qualifying monthly direct deposits, or maintaining a total combined ledger balance of $500 or more in Truist related accounts across personal deposits and all investments as reflected on the business day before your statement cycle end date, or having a personal Truist credit card, mortgage or consumer loan (excluding LightStream®), or having a linked Small Business Checking Account, or if you’re a student under 25.

See the Personal Deposit Accounts Fee Schedule for further details.

No. And no overdraft related fees4 either.

Most Truist One Checking accounts start in Level 1 upon account opening and can begin increasing Levels following the first month. Thereafter, Truist One Checking levels are determined by the balance in your Truist One Portfolio (“Portfolio”). Your Portfolio includes all eligible Truist consumer deposit balances in your checking accounts, savings, Certificates of Deposit, IRAs and/or all investments through Truist Investments Services, Inc. where you are the primary or secondary account owner. For each of your accounts used in the Portfolio, we use the monthly average ledger balance. We then take the sum of all of these accounts to determine the Portfolio balance for the month. Each month, your Level is based on the highest Portfolio value of the three previous months. Leveling up can occur on a monthly basis, but leveling down can only occur on a three-month basis.

The $100 Negative Balance Buffer is only available with Truist One Checking and allows eligible clients to overdraw their account up to $100. All eligibility requirements below must be met to initially qualify for the $100 Negative Balance Buffer:

  • Account must be opened for a minimum of 35 calendar days
  • Account must be funded and have a positive balance
  • A single direct deposit of at least $100 per month must be made for 2 consecutive months

To remain qualified for the $100 Negative Balance Buffer, the requirement below must be met:

  • A recurring direct deposit of at least $100 per month

For accounts that qualify for the $100 Negative Balance Buffer and also have Overdraft Protection, Truist will use the $100 Negative Balance Buffer first. If the account has neither, transactions that exceed the account balance will typically be declined or returned.

You won’t have to worry about the monthly maintenance fees with those accounts, and they’re easily visible in your online and mobile banking dashboards. It makes them a great option for kids, or for an account with a specific purpose—like paying specific bills.

If you have a Truist One Checking account as well as one of the eligible Truist credit cards (see below), then you will receive a Loyalty Bonus based on your relationship status with Truist when you either redeem the credit card cash rewards into a Truist deposit account or redeem Enjoy Travel miles for travel.

The following credit cards are eligible to earn an enhanced Loyalty Bonus if you also have a Truist One Checking account:

  • Truist Enjoy Cash (including Secured)
  • Truist Enjoy Travel
  • Truist Enjoy Beyond
  • Truist Cash Rewards
  • Truist Prime Rewards
  • Truist Travel Rewards
  • Truist Platinum Elite Rewards
  • Truist Legacy Cash Rewards

If your card is not listed as “eligible” here, you will not earn an enhanced Loyalty Bonus, even if you have a Truist One Checking account. For your ease of reference, your credit card product type name is provided on your most recent credit card monthly statement. You can also find your credit card product type name in the online banking portal or mobile app by selecting the credit card tile, then “View Account Details.”

Truist Wealth and Truist PWM Rewards Card clients earn a 75% Loyalty Cash Bonus when you deposit cash rewards into any Truist deposit account. Truist Spectrum Cash Rewards clients are not eligible for the Truist One Loyalty Bonus but will continue to receive a 10% bonus when you deposit your rewards into any Truist deposit account.

If you have a Truist rewards credit card that is not eligible to earn an enhanced Loyalty Bonus, you will continue to earn rewards as outlined within your credit card’s existing Rewards Terms and Conditions.  If you are interested in opening a new Truist Credit Card, go to Truist.com/credit-cards, select a rewards card, and apply.  All credit cards are subject to credit approval.

Your account is evaluated on the second business day of every month.

You don’t have to take any action to move between levels—just keep banking. But here’s how we set up Truist One Checking to fit you:

  • Most Truist One Checking accounts start in Level 1 upon account opening and can begin increasing levels following the first month.
  • After that, Truist One Checking levels are determined by the balance in your Truist One Portfolio (“portfolio). Your Portfolio includes all eligible accounts* where you are the Primary or Secondary owner.
  • We use the monthly average balance of each of your accounts in your Portfolio, then add them up to determine the Portfolio balance for the month.
  • Each month, your Level is based on the highest Portfolio value of the three previous months. So, you can level up monthly, but you can only level down every 3 months.

*Your Portfolio includes all eligible Truist consumer deposit balances in your checking accounts, savings, Certificates of Deposit, IRAs and/or investments though Truist Investment Services, Inc. where you are the Primary or Secondary owner.

There’s no fee to cash or deposit a check issued to you.

Truist One Checking is a traditional checking account—but with great benefits that automatically adjust based on your balance. It also has a $100 Negative Balance Buffer2 for qualifying clients.

The Truist Confidence Account doesn’t have paper checks. And it helps you stay focused on your budget by only approving transactions if you have the funds in your account to cover them. While the rare overdraft can occur in some circumstances, charges that exceed the account balance will typically be declined.

Neither account has overdraft fees and both are great options for students since the monthly maintenance fees are waived for students under 25.
